Boom Butik's Big Bang
Beloved fellow Europeans,
Boom Butik is a Danish clothing brand that came into the world in 2020. The founder Viggo, or Big Boss as we call him, noticed how friends and loved ones all were craving nice and comfortable sweatpants, hoodies and general clothing whilst being camped up on the couch at home during the Covid lockdowns. Viggo found a producer who made quality base products for a really good price. He got in touch, and placed the first order containing some boxes filled with sweats to be delivered to his parents’ house. Viggo put it in an Ikea bag, got on his bike and started going around Copenhagen delivering clothes to friends all over the city. The project ended up being a success, since Viggo had to restock his inventory and buy a bigger Ikea bag.
After some months, when Viggo could barely walk anymore because of how much his legs were cramping due to all the cycling, he created a website: boombutik.dk. In the beginning it was mostly as a fun thing to make it easier for friends to order, but then friends of friends started ordering and as they say … the rest is history.
Eventually Corona started disappearing, restrictions were lifted and people were able to go back into society – in their brand new Boom Butik sweatpants. Copenhagen as a city has always had a finger on the pulse for fashion trends, and one day the shit of the shit was to rock a pair of sweatpants with some clean sneakers. Let’s just say, business was Boomin’.
Viggo recalls the start of Boom as a lovely summer, but in hindsight it was a lot of stress to keep the storage at home, deliver all the packages in time and keep up with his personal life. So, like many before him who have been in need of help, he called up some friends and created the first, original Boom team.
The trend of the sweatpants, which some credit Kim Kardashian for starting, exploded in popularity. Boom Butik went almost overnight from being a small playful project to a significantly bigger, yet playful project with employees, an office, and all that follows.
Boom Butik started as something fun for friends who liked nice, quality clothing for a reasonable price. We still remain true to those values, the only difference is that we have quite a few more friends today. We’ve pledged to keep that small business mentality and personality, and never to take ourselves too seriously. All that we are is a bunch of friends, selling nice, comfortable clothing for a price that doesn’t put your wallet into bankruptcy. We hope you like it. Take care guys.
